WATER REGENERATION

PROTECT AND STEWARD WATER RESOURCES RESPONSIBLY AND SUSTAINABLY

Water is a shared, precious resources and vital for life. Human beings need water to survive and thrive.

As a leader in the bottled natural mineral water industry, we recognize that the long-term success of our company is built upon sustainable access to natural mineral water which are our raw materials as well as water resources in the regions where our factories are located and where our suppliers and consumers live.

From the surveys and the consultation of leading organizations and experts, we understand the challenges facing water resources in the regions where the company operates. We learn that these challenges can only be addressed through collaboration by multiple stakeholders, ensuring everyone’s equal access to clean water, environmental sustainability and harmonization of economic benefits.

Therefore, we’re implementing AWS Standard (Alliance for Water Stewardship) and encourage other organizations to follow this standard. Currently, La Vie is the first and only business in Vietnam to be certified with AWS. Nestlé commits to certifying all Nestlé’s water bottling sites to the AWS standard by 2025.

The AWS Standard is a  globally-applicable framework for water users to understand their water use and impacts, and to work collaboratively and transparently for sustainable water management within a catchment context, improving performance of sustainable water balance, good water quality, equal access to water, sanitation and hygiene, and healthy status of important water-related areas.

REGENERATING LOCAL WATER RESOURCES

Climate change, higher water consumption, growing urbanization and some of other factors are contributing to the deterioration of the natural water cycle. These trends are interfering with the predictability of precipitation and the availability of clean water. In addition, rising temperatures and more extreme weather patterns are causing more flooding and droughts. We know the water challenge is global, but it can only be tackled through local solutions.

As a business with a long heritage of nature protection and water stewardship sustainably, we want to go beyond the conservation of water sources to help regenerate and restore water cycles in the areas where we operate. Therefore, we are increasing the collaboration with partners to deliver and implement initiatives to help regenerate the ecosystems in the areas where we operate. We also plan to help nature retain more water than the business uses in our operation by 2025.

  • La Vie delivers technical aid and equipment to help Tien Dat to recirculate water for plastic cooling molds, help save water and reduce the use of underground water. We also help Hoa Binh Beverage to collect all discharge water at RO step as clean water to supply to previous media filter for backwash frequently. The two projects help save more than 20 million liters of water per year in total.
  • Support Long An Water Supply Sewerage Joint Stock Company (Lawaco) to increase surface water treatment capacity by 4.8 liters per day to provide clean water for 150.000 households, reducing the use of underground water.
